
Gbemisola Ogunrinde
Psychotherapist & Psychologist
Gbemisola Ogunrinde is a psychotherapist and the founder of The Family Place, a mental and behavioural health services provider dedicated to fostering wellness and wholeness in individuals and families. With a strong passion for family development, she specialises in marriage and family therapy for couples, play therapy for children and adolescents, and individual therapy for adults. She also facilitates professional counselling trainings, parenting education workshops, and mental health awareness programs.
Gbemisola is the author of "Keeping it Together in a Crazy and Uncertain World," a self-help book focused on building resilience and promoting positive mental health. Over the years, she has worked with diverse client populations across different economic strata and cultural backgrounds, addressing issues such as relationship problems, marital conflict, behavioural misconduct, anger management, grief, anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidality, and life transitions.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Psychology from Covenant University, Ogun, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree (MA) in Family Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas. She is a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Gbemisola is also a member of the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy and has received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) for working with children facing emotional and behavioural difficulties. She is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator and has served in various counselling capacities, including as the Counsellor and Welfare Officer at The Real Woman Foundation (Lagos), a therapist with Olusola Lanre Coaching Academy (OLCA), The Family Psychology Center, and The Ministry of Counselling and Enrichment in Abilene, Texas.
Currently, she serves as a part-time counsellor at the Women At Risk International Foundation (WARIF). In addition to leading The Family Place, Gbemisola is a faculty member at Attitude Development International Counselling School. She also works as an Independent EAP Counsellor for Morneau Shepell and a therapist on the Ask An Expert and Leke Alder jacknjilive.com platforms.
Her leadership extends to her service on the Central Working Committee for Joy Incredible, as well as the boards of Dolly Children Foundation and the Africa Network of Professional Counsellors (ANEPCO).
Gbemisola is deeply committed to the transformation of society through the family, which she believes is the most fundamental unit and greatest agent of change. Her work reflects her vision for a better Nigeria, beginning at the home front.
