
Blessing Agbo Ntamu
Counselling Psychologist/ Psychotherapist, Springs of Life Consultancy
Blessing is a bilingual (French and English) Counselling and Educational Psychologist. She currently serves as the Head of External Relations, a lecturer, and researcher at the University of Calabar, Nigeria. Her research interests include behavior modification, developmental psychology, inclusive learning, gender equality, and mind and attention regulation, among others. Blessing has published over 30 articles and 3 books in reputable academic journals. Her work is primarily aimed at achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 5, and 10.
With over 20 years of experience in the educational sector and a PhD in Educational Psychology, Blessing has held various positions, including Director of Academic Planning and Deputy Provost (Academics) at a teacher training college. She has worked across all levels of education and in various capacities, positioning her to effectively support institutions in maximizing the teaching-learning experience and achieving their educational goals.
In addition to her expertise in education, Blessing holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and has earned over 40 expert certificates in clinical psychology from reputable universities. She is adept at helping individuals manage mental health challenges such as depression, insomnia, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and more using evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other neuroscience-based interventions.
As a Trauma-Responsive Psychotherapist, Blessing has helped over 100 survivors of Gender-Based Violence work through their trauma and reintegrate into society. She volunteers as a technical support staff/psychotherapist at the Gender-Based Violence Centre at the Ministry of Women Affairs in Calabar, Nigeria.
Blessing is also a CPD UK-certified trainer and serves as a Psychosocial Support/Trauma Trainer to over 10 reputable organizations, including the UNFPA Calabar office, Gender And Development Action (GADA), and has facilitated training sessions for groups such as the Police, Nigeria Society for Civil Defence Corps, civil society organizations, and school counselors, among others.
Furthermore, she is a certified teachers' trainer, providing Continuing Professional Development Training for in-service teachers. Blessing is also an experienced public speaker.
She has served as a Quality Control Expert on the Kwara State 10-Year Sustainable Development Plan, launched in 2021, and was part of the expert team that drafted the Standard Operating Procedures on Gender-Based Violence (2022) as well as the 2022-2026 Gender Strategic Plan for Cross River State.
Blessing also developed a course on holistic resilience for journalists for African Women in Media (AWiM) and audited the Gender-Based Violence Protocols and Policies for Girls Firsts Finance, reporting her findings to the US Development Finance Corporation.
